Sandy Kuhn retires after 22+ years of Service

Bond Madison Water Company has announced the retirement of longtime Manager/Operator Sandy Kuhn.  On December 14th,  the board meeting addressed company business, then Sandy was recognized for her outstanding leadership, innovation, and guidance in growing the company’s customer base.

Sandy and her husband Danny Kuhn were instrumental in the successful startup of the fledgling company.  The board of directors voted to hire Sandy as the company’s first Manager/Operator in May of 1998.  That same year, water began flowing to 750 rural households and bulk customers through BMWC lines.  Sandy managed company business from her home until September of 1999; then office space was made available on State Street in Pocahontas.

Relevance to the company became Sandy’s strongest asset.  Her understanding of line locates, pump station monitoring, outside maintenance, billing, banking, dealing with engineers and contractors during million-dollar construction phases, well versed in IEPA and USDA lending requirements and guidelines, and most important she understood how to treat customers.

Sandy is leaving the company with a legacy of honesty, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in water quality to over 2,540 rural households and the communities of Alhambra, Hamel, Grantfork, Livingston, Marine, Pocahontas, St. Jacob, Worden, and Three County Public Water District.

The Board of Directors has chosen Marty Landmann to follow Sandy as Manager/Operator of the company.   Marty comes as no stranger since he has served 16 years as field operator under Sandy’s tutelage.   The standard has been set by Sandy. Marty will maintain the commitment to excellence that continues to be the cornerstone of the Bond Madison Water Company.
